More top rankings are accumulating for Idaho

Boise, Idaho – Governor Brad Little commented today on even more rankings that put Idaho at the top of the list in terms of economic strength and fiscal sustainability.

“In Idaho, we stand for limited government and responsible strategic investment where it counts and our approach works. Washington, DC, and states across the country should see Idaho as a success story about how to ensure the well-being of the people we serve. “ Governor Little said.

THE LATEST Rankings for Idaho include:

  • Fitch Affirms Idaho AAA Credit Rating – For the second year in a row, Fitch affirmed Idaho’s AAA credit rating – the highest a state can attain. The Fitch report states: “Idaho’s ‘AAA’ IDR reflects the state’s credit strengths, including extensive spending and income mandates, high reserves, low burden on long-term obligations and expected solid long-term economic growth. Fitch believes the state is well positioned to accept the successive rounds of tax cuts it has adopted so far given Idaho’s wisely managed budget with substantial one-off expenses being developed to build fiscal capacity. Only about 10 states are rated AAA at any one time, indicating a high level of confidence in the way a state’s budget is managed and the strength of the state’s economy. The higher the credit rating of a country, the lower the cost of paying off its bonds, saving taxpayers’ money on interest costs. (to combine)
  • Top 10 Idaho states for rainy days – The Pew Charitable Trusts ranks Idaho in the top 10 for our healthy rainy day reserves. Under Governor Little’s leadership, funds for Idaho’s rainy days have more than doubled, from $ 562.5 million to $ 1.164 billion.
